THIS is the man who bit his ex-partner's new boyfriend on the cheek during a doorstep assault.
Rory Delaney (42) broke the victim's skin with his teeth during the attack, leaving him with a small mark.
Judge David McHugh sentenced Delaney to four months in prison but suspended it for one year.
The defendant, of Lower Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to charges of serious assault and criminal damage.
The incident took place at Liscarn Gardens in Clondalkin shortly before 2am on November 24 last year. Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan said Delaney kicked the front door of the house damaging it.
Sgt Callaghan said there was an argument with the victim, Stephen Costello, and Delaney bit him on the cheek, breaking the skin and leaving him with a small mark.
The sergeant said Mr Costello attended his GP but he did not require further treatment.
The court heard that Delaney has three previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Emer O'Sullivan said the assault arose out of a domestic incident, and the victim is the new boyfriend of Delaney's former partner. The court heard they have four young children.
Ms O'Sullivan said Delaney suffers from depression and is on medication and receiving counselling. She added that the defendant is very apologetic for his behaviour.
Judge McHugh said the incident must have been quite frightening for the injured party and imposed a four-month suspended sentence.
