Cycle boy 'robbed at knifepoint'

A TEENAGER is alleged to have pulled another youngster off his bicycle at knifepoint, a court heard.

The 15-year-old allegedly left the victim in fear after he saw a knife.

The defendant appeared before the Children's Court sitting at Blanchardstown charged with robbery in west Dublin in the early hours of July 16 last year.

The court heard the DPP had directed summary disposal of the matter in the District Court.

Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan alleged the boy flagged down gardai around 1am and told them that two youths had taken his dark blue mountain bicycle off him.

Sgt Callaghan alleged the boy said he was in fear after one of the culprits produced a knife, but he was not injured during the robbery.

Judge Anthony Halpin said he would accept jurisdiction of the charge and adjourned the matter for four weeks to allow the defendant speak to his solicitor.
