Columnist Leslie accused of refusing to give breath test

SOCIALITE and newspaper columnist Antonia Leslie, above, has been charged with refusing to give gardai a breath sample after being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Leslie (49), of Whitworth Road, Drumcondra, was in court after she was stopped in Dublin earlier this year.

ADJOURNED

SHE HAS NOT INDICATED WHETHER SHE INTENDS TO CONTEST THE CASE AND HAD IT ADJOURNED AT DUBLIN DISTRICT COURT. LESLIE WAS REMANDED ON CONTINUING BAIL.

She is charged with failing or refusing to provide a breath specimen at Store Street Garda Station on February 19.

The offence carries a mandatory driving ban.

When her case was called before Judge Alan Mitchell, she said her solicitor was not present as she understood the case was "just for mention" and was going to be adjourned.

It was her second appearance and she had contacted a solicitor since the previous date, when she was not legally represented.

The case was adjourned to June 4.
