Cannabis haul accused to stand trial

THIS is the man allegedly caught with more than €13,000 worth of cannabis during a garda raid.

Greg Morris (34) is facing a jury trial in the circuit court after the DPP ruled the allegations were too serious for the district court.

Morris, of Shelerin Road in Clonsilla, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with possession of the drug and having it for sale or supply.

He is charged under Section 15A of the Misuse of Drugs Act, which applies when the value of the drug is more than €13,000.

He was allegedly caught with the cannabis at Woodbrook Court in Carpenterstown on June 20.

A State solicitor said the book of evidence was ready to be served on Morris.

But defence solicitor Paul Hannon said that his client's independent surety – his mother – was unwell and therefore unable to come before the court.

Judge David McHugh adjourned the matter to a date in January so that the book of evidence could be served.
