Burglar on the hunt for copper is jailed

A BURGLAR was found huddled in a corner in a back bedroom after neighbours reported seeing two men climbing over a garden wall, a court heard.

Shane Daly (29) had a torch and walkie talkie and gardai also found a bag containing a screwdriver, balaclava and vice grips when they searched outside the house in Lucan.

He had claimed the house was unoccupied and he was looking for copper, taking radiator valves and tap fittings. Judge David McHugh sentenced Daly to eight months in prison.

The defendant, of Hillcrest Walk in Lucan, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to burglary and two counts of possession of articles for use in the course of a theft.

The incidents took place at Meadowview Grove in Lucan and at Balgaddy Road in Clondalkin.
