Boy denies shopping spree with fake notes

A YOUTH has denied in court that he went shopping with €150 in forged notes.

The 17-year-old was charged at the Children's Court with possessing counterfeit money and three counts of tendering €50 notes as genuine, on January 26 and 27 at the northside shopping centre in Dublin.

Garda Louise Burns told Judge Gerard Haughton it was alleged the youth "tendered as genuine a €50 note at McDonald's in the northside shopping centre, €50 at Lifestyle sports and €50 in Esquire".

The youth, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded on bail pending a hearing in October.
