Boxer in court for sword find

A CHAMPION boxer caught holding a Samurai sword following an argument with his brother had earlier confiscated it from another individual, a court heard.

Judge David McHugh fined Simon O'Donnell (36), of St Philomena's Park, Ballycoolin Road, Dublin 15, €200 and imposed a four-month sentence suspended for one year.

O'Donnell admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to threatening and abusive behaviour and possession of a Samurai sword.


A DUBLIN man has appeared in court accused of stealing nearly €50,000 in cash during a burglary on Christmas Eve last year.

James Cahill (21), of Ferrycarrig Park in Coolock, is alleged to have taken €49,204 in a burglary at McArdle Butchers, Charlestown Shopping Centre in Finglas. Judge David McHugh adjourned the case to a date in February for DPP's directions.
