Blood was smeared on wall of cell

A DRUNKEN reveller bit his lip and smeared blood on the wall of a garda station cell after he was arrested for public order offences, a court heard.

Derek Brennan (23) was heading home from a friend's birthday party when he met the gardai. A court heard that he was very drunk and gave a false name to gardai.

Judge Anthony Halpin ordered Brennan to pay €300 compensation for the damage he caused and ordered him to enter into a peace bond for one year.

The defendant, of Carrigmore Park in Tallaght admitted before Tallaght District Court to charges of public drunkenness and giving a false name to gardai at Oldbawn Road in Tallaght on February 26 last.

He also admitted to criminal damage of a cell at Tallaght Garda Station in the same incident.
