Attacker broke victim's phone

A DUBLIN man is to be sentenced for threatening and violent behaviour.

Derek Menton (26) pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, damaging a mobile phone belonging to her, as well as making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to her in Tallaght on March 3, 2008.

Menton, with an address at Avonbeg Drive in Tallaght, also pleaded guilty to assaulting Sergeant Michael Leahy at Dodder Valley, Tallaght on March 24, 2008.

Menton was remanded in custody until his sentencing next month.



Dog lover on threat charge

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy threatened to wreck a woman's home believing she was responsible for his dogs being impounded by his local council, a court has heard.

The south Dublin teenager is charged with threatening to "smash in all the windows in the house" of a neighbour, on August 22 last year. He is also charged with trespassing.

The boy made no reply when charged in the Dublin Children's Court.

The teenager, who was accompanied in court by his father, was granted legal aid and was remanded on bail to appear again next month when he is to enter pleas to the charges.



Burglar raids three pubs

A BURGLAR who targeted pubs in West Dublin will be sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Garreth Quinn (26), of Moorefield Avenue, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at the Lord Lucan Pub, Newcastle Road, as well as burglaries at O'Neills Pub and Kennys Pub, both on Main Street in Lucan, on dates in January and February 2008.

Judge Patricia Ryan remanded Quinn in custody until his sentence date next month when all facts will be heard.
