Attack victim kicked and punched in head

THREE young Dublin men who attacked three older youths have had their sentences adjourned at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Glen Maloney (20) of Donamore Park, Killinarden, Aaron Slattery (19) of Cushlawn Drive and Trevor Johnston (18) of Cushlawn Walk, all Tallaght, each pleaded guilty to violent disorder at Killinarden Park around June 6, 2007.

Maloney also pleaded guilty to assaulting Delvin Rogers (19) on the same date.

Detective Garda Ciaran McGrath told the court that Mr Rogers, his older brother James (20) and their friend Alan Lafrate had left a barbeque at Cushlawn Park to buy chips when a group of youths started calling after them.

Det Gda McGrath said the youths shouted "Delvin, you're handicapped, you're slow" at the three friends and flung a bottle in their direction.

Maloney went to hit James Rogers but missed and instead started to beat his brother.

Delvin Rogers told gardai that Maloney punched and kicked him in the head when he fell on the ground and Slattery and others dragged him down to the nearby river.

The judge put the matter back till April.
