Accused back in court over Melanie death

A MAN accused of killing a 16-year-old teenager in a drive-by shooting has been further remanded in custody.

Keith Hall (23) is charged with the murder of Melanie McCarthy McNamara in Tallaght two months ago.

The defendant, of Kilmartin Drive in Tallaght, is also charged with possession of a double barrel sawn-off shotgun with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Ms McCarthy McNamara was shot in the head while she was sitting in the back of a car at Brookview Way in Tallaght on February 8. She was rushed to hospital but she died a short time later.

Gardai believe she was not the intended target of the attack. Her fiance Christy Moran was also in the car at the time of the shooting.

Hall appeared before a Cloverhill District Court hearing on Tuesday.

State solicitor Karen Wilson asked for Hall to be remanded in custody for four weeks for DPP's directions on the charges.

Defence solicitor Anarine McAllister said there was only consent to a two-week adjournment in custody.

Judge John Lindsay remanded Hall, an unemployed father-of-one, in custody for two weeks to a date in April for DPP's directions on the charges.
