€10k payout for shower fumes

TWIN sisters who developed respiratory problems from fumes expelled over a three-year period from a shower drain in their home have been awarded €10,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Raymond Groarke, heard that 11-year-olds Abby and Chloe Croke developed respiratory difficulties following renovations to the bathroom in their house at St Anne's Avenue, Raheny, Dublin.

Through their mother Ita Croke, Abby and Chloe sued Alpha Engineering Heat Providers Ltd, of Unit 35, Finglas Business Centre, Finglas, Dublin.

ACTOR CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

Terminator 2 star Edward Furlong has been charged with assault after a May 21 incident in which his girlfriend called police and reported he attacked her.

Deputy District Attorney Linda Loftfield says Furlong pleaded not guilty at his arraignment yesterday.

Furlong already has two pending misdemeanor battery cases.

A preliminary hearing is set for July 1.
