Couples rushing to copy Brian and Amy's fairytale wedding

SOON-to-be wed couples from across Europe are clamouring to recreate Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman's recent fairytale wedding in Co Leitrim.

The rugby hero and his actress wife are being credited for helping to significantly boost the profile of Lough Rynn Castle in Mohill, which is almost booked solid with weddings for the next two years.

Bookings are also coming in fast at St Joseph's Church in Aughavas, where the high-profile couple married last Friday. Fr Sam Holmes revealed that he believes the showbiz couple are responsible for attracting seven other couples to the area for their upcoming weddings.

"We have seven other weddings taking place in the church between May and November from Dublin and other parts of Ireland. I had a phone call this week from another Dublin couple to book their date," he said.

Clement Gaffney, The Hanly Hotel's Group Director, told the Herald that they have also had dozens of enquiries from engaged couples hoping to book Lord Leitrim's former estate up to three years in advance.

"We've had a number of calls from Ireland, the UK and even areas of Europe since the wedding took place, many of which saw and cited the coverage of Brian and Amy's wedding.

"On average we have two to three weddings every week for the rest of the year so 2010 is fully booked. We also have over 50 dates gone and 30 provisional dates in 2011, so there are only about 10 Fridays and Saturdays available next year."
