Cool things to do in the city as sunshine takes a break

THERE are many ways to make the most of the summer around Dublin this week, even if the heatwave seems to be taking a break.

A staple in every true-blue Dub's calendar kicks off today - the
Dublin Horseshow will run for four days of jam-packed equestrian fun in the RDS.

There will be no long faces tomorrow as the city's glamorous beauties compete for the top prize for ladies day.

According to Met Eireann, the capital is set for a "mixed bag" of weather for the rest of the week.

"Temperatures will stay up in the early 20s," forecaster David Rogers said.

If the rain manages to hold off, Happenings Dublin is set to bring the indoors out by hosting weekly screenings of film favourites in Merrion Square and Fitzwilliam Square.

And Temple Bar's famous alleyways are being transformed into the country's only night-time market every Thursday until the end of August.
