Concerns over Edenmore gang

at a recent meeting in Raheny residents raised concerns about a gang of youths who are targeting shoppers at the Edenmore Shopping Centre.

The group are intimidating elderly users of the centre and residents in the surrounding housing estates.

It is suspected that the group are partaking in drink and drug use near the centre and that the so-called ringleaders of the group are a few years older than the other people involved.

Two estates are located near the centre - the Woodbine estate and Edenmore Crescent - and some locals are said to be feeling "terrorised" by the group.

It is hoped that the extension of the Garda Youth Division projects to the area will help discourage this type of activity in the future.

Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald announced the scheme extension to the Raheny and Kilbarrack areas of the city, on top of the current program run by Coolock Garda Station.
