COMMUTERS in South County Dublin can look forward to more park-and-ride facilities for the Luas.
Councillors in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council have voted for the reduction in planning levies for landowners and developers who want to construct the park-and-rides.
The councillors took the action earlier this week.
One developer who is preparing to build a park-and-ride will see his levy reduced from €139,000 to €69,000 as a result of the change.
Two park-and-ride facilities have been given the green light by the council at Carrickmines and Ballyogan Road. Some 700 parking spaces will be made available between the two facilities.
Another planning application has been submitted for the provision of 197 spaces at Cherrywood Science and Technology Park near the Luas terminus.
Since the Cherrywood line opened last October, commuters have faced problems finding parking spaces.
