FORMER Minister Mary Hanafin may well be known as the 'comeback kid' as she graduated from the Clinton Institute in UCD.
Bill Clinton was famously Christened 'the comeback kid' during 1992 presidential campaign and Mary Hanafin has made her own return to the political stage this year.
Hanafin was among those conferred with an MA in American Studies yesterday. Having been one of the many victims of Fianna Fail's electoral massacre in 2011, Ms Hanafin looks set to rise for a general election run.
Asked whether, similar to Bill Clinton she is the 'comeback kid' of politics here, Ms Hanafin said she admired another Clinton.
"My study focussed on Hilary," she said. "She's already suffered one defeat and that didn't keep her down."
Hanafin admitted that she has sympathy for the current Minister for Education Jan O'Sullivan who is dealing with the fallout of today's planned strike by second school teachers.
"They should not be striking, simple as that. By striking, they risk losing the support of the parents and students," said the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown councillor.
