Chip can help to beat heart failure

A revolutionary microchip proven to significantly reduce hospital admissions for people with chronic heart failure has been implanted in UK patients for the first time.

The sensor alerts doctors to any change in the condition of patients with heart failure, enabling them to contact the patient and advise them on measures to take before symptoms worsen.

Patients have had the miniature sensor inserted into the main blood vessel carrying blood from the heart to the lungs.
