Chief to quit Eircom

THE chief of Eircom Paul Donovan will finish up at the telecommunications group at the end of the year.

Mr Donovan's departure announcement comes just days before Eircom prepares to file for the biggest examinership in the history of the State.

The chief, who has commuted to Dublin from his family home in London for three years, said that he was leaving his role after his current contract ends for personal reason.

"The role of CEO requires a new multi-year commitment which I am not in a position to make," he said.

He will stay on at Eircom to the end of the year to allow time to hire a successor.
