Chic and cheap new season styles

From punks to pretty-in-pink princesses, this autumn is filled with stand-out trends.

Huge plaid prints, thick chunky knits, midi-length skirts and delicate pale pink coats fill glossy magazine pages.

"Looking good does not mean breaking the bank," Dublin-based stylist Justine King (25) told the Herald.

"Stores are catwalk-driven this season. They're taking the high-end designer looks and making them affordable."

According to Justine, there are several key trends.

"Rebel and punk rock are big. This can be quite a tough look to pull off. If you find it a little daunting, team a plaid shirt with black jeans and keep things simple."

Penneys' black and red plaid baby doll dress with Peter Pan collar (€17) is super cute and the perfect way to unleash your inner Billy Idol.

Our very own Simone Rocha is the brains behind this season's must-have coat and colour – the hugely impractical but deliciously dusky pink swing coat.

"Baby pink and navy are the two hottest colours this season," Justine says.
