Cats cook up a storm for special food camp

THE country's first ever food camp is set to whet the appetite of a hurling-mad county after their all-Ireland defeat. Chefs, restaurateurs, consumers and bloggers will come together to debate the future of the Irish food industry while sharing their culinary secrets in Kilkenny this October Bank Holiday weekend.

The rare event is being held as part of the fourth annual Savour Kilkenny Food Festival.

Kilkenny Castle's spectacular walls will be the backdrop for this year's festival with a tented food village on the new Parade Plaza.

Celebrity chefs Kevin Dundon and Catherine Fulvio will be hosting demonstrations for food lovers, who will also be enticed by cupcakes and tasting plates.

Hurler

An 18th-century dining experience will be held in Mount Juliet Hotel in Thomastown while a 'hurler in the kitchen' event is sure to attract a few raised eyebrows in Cafe Sol and Sol Bistro.

The FoodCamp -- the first to be held in Ireland and only the third in the world -- will see people passionate about food come to Kilkenny to share their experiences on Friday, October 2 .

More information on the festival's programme is available from www.savourkilkenny.com.
