Cash in attic for charity

A NEW initiative urges people to dig out their "cash in the attic" and donate it to charity.

The online non-profit market place Giveandbuy.ie invites users to sell their unwanted household and workplace items and raise funds for Irish and international charities.

Goods or skills can be sold on the website with 100pc of the money going to charity.

The idea was conceived by Aidan Corless, chairman of Care Aid, and RTE presenter Miriam O'Callaghan has come on board as official patron.

"Most people, without realising it, have got 'value in the attic'," said Mr Corless.
