A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions by the Garda Ombudsman Commission following the death of a 19-year-old man who was being followed by a Garda car when his car collided with a barrier.
Paul Peel, of Coultry Road, Ballymun, Dublin, was injured in a traffic incident at Virginia, Co Cavan, on November 6, 2009. He died in hospital eight days later.
Garda Ombudsman Commission Carmel Foley requested an adjournment of the inquest, which the coroner granted. He adjourned the inquest to October.
Commuters hit by DART delay
COMMUTERS were disrupted today after Dart services between Howth and Howth Junction were suspended.
When the service resumed, there was a 10-minute delay on the 7.45am Dart from Howth to Bray.
The disruption was caused when a fault developed on an overhead line.
Iarnrod Eireann apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
Stab inquest is adjourned
An inquest into the death of a 20-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in July was adjourned until the completion of criminal proceedings.
James Joyce, of St Cronan's Close, Swords, Co Dublin, was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital on July 22 last.
He was stabbed on St Cronan's Avenue after he stepped in to stop a row between two men, it is understood.
Det Insp Pat Conlon of Coolock Garda Station told Dublin City Coroner's Court that criminal proceedings have commenced. The coroner adjourned the inquest.
