A TRAINEE chef caught with cannabis herb was subsidising his own habit by selling the drugs to others, a court heard.
Richard Mooney (30) was found with €480 worth of cannabis when his bedroom was searched.
Mooney, of Avondale, Leixlip, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to possession of cannabis herb for sale or supply last December 21.
Defence solicitor Margaret McEvilly said Mooney had a drug problem as a teenager but had cleaned up his act after he moved away from Leixlip.
Ms McEvilly said Mooney fell back in with the wrong crowd when he returned to the area, and was subsidising his own habit by supplying it to others.
She said Mooney is now completely drug free.
The judge fined him €100.
