Cannabis use 'normal' -- poll

MORE than one-in-three people aged 25-34 think experimenting with cannabis is a normal part of growing up, according to a new study.

The poll showed that while 35pc of people questioned in that age category believed it was a routine thing to do, just 24pc of 18-24-year-olds agreed with the statement.

Paul Jenkins, chief executive of charity Rethink Mental Illness, who commissioned the research, said: "This is encouraging. Hopefully it means the message is getting through to younger people that cannabis can be dangerous.

"If you use cannabis under the age of 15, you quadruple your risk of psychosis."
