Cancer mum dies soon after wedding

A newlywed woman who last month spoke openly about life as a terminally ill mother has died.

Roseann Kennedy (37) from Shinrone near Birr in Co Offaly was walked down the aisle by her son JJ (3) last December.

Two dreams were fulfilled for Roseann when she wed Justin and enjoyed a dream honeymoon to New York, which was made possible thanks to the generosity of her colleagues at the County Arms Hotel in Birr.

Roseann was diagnosed with cancerous tumours in her back and neck in 2012 and despite treatment the cancer spread to her bones.

THANKFUL

But she remained bright, bubbly and good humoured, her primary concern always JJ. She was thankful to the communities in Birr and Shinrone and staff at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for their kindness, care and support.

Roseann was laid to rest in Kilcommon Cemetery after a funeral mass in St Mary's Church Shinrone on Sunday.

She is survived by Justin, JJ, mother Ann, brothers Joe and Colman and sisters Linda, Stasia, Catherine and Thecla.
