Cabbie jailed for drug crime

A taxi driver who was caught with almost €120,000 worth of cannabis herb has received six years' jail at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Joseph Bride (45) of Mount Olive Park, Kilbarrack, pleaded guilty to possession of the cannabis for sale or supply at Laytown, Co Meath, on September 17, 2010.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring suspended the last year of a six-year term.

Bride pleaded guilty three days before his trial was due to take place last February.

Slayer guitarist dead at 49

JEFF HANNEMAN, a founding member of Slayer whose career was irrevocably changed after a spider bite, has died aged 49.

Slayer spokeswoman Heidi Robinson-Fitzgerald said he died of liver failure at a LA hospital.

He had been slowly recovering from what was believed to be a spider bite that nearly cost him his arm after he failed to seek immediate treatment.

Hanneman co-founded the thrash metal pioneers in Huntington Beach, California, in 1982.

Maddie event marks 6 years

MISSING Madeleine McCann's parents today marked the sixth anniversary of her disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann attended a ceremony at the candle that burns continually in the centre of Rothley, Leicestershire, England, to mark the occasion with prayers and poems.

The ceremony marked six years since Madeleine, then nearly four, disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal's Algarve on May 3, 2007.

Singer Frankie to have a baby

The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford (24) is expecting a baby with her soccer star fiance Wayne Bridge.

Frankie (right) revealed the news on Twitter – the same way she told fans of her engagement less than a month ago.

She wrote: "Some big news from me today! Wayne and I are having a baby. We are both SO happy and can't wait for his or her arrival!"
