THE Criminal Assets Bureau is taking over the finances of convicted IRA man John Noonan.
The former Provo, from Tallaght, owes the agency more than €2.5m.
Bank accounts and a property portfolio belonging to Noonan, a security man who acted as a bodyguard for U2, will now fall under the control of the CAB after he was made bankrupt.
Noonan, a former adjutant officer of the Provisional IRA's Dublin brigade for most of the 1980s, asked the High Court to make him a bankrupt last year after a failed tax appeal against the CAB.
Mr Noonan's property and assets will now be taken over and may be sold to recoup money for creditors.
