Butterly murder – 4 still held

Gardai investigating the murder of Peter Butterly (below) in a Co Meath car park have been given an extra 24 hours to question four of the five men arrested on Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken, who is leading the investigation into Mr Butterly's murder, was granted the extension at Drogheda District Court to further question the four men until 2.30pm today.

Father-of-three Peter Butterly (35), of Cortown, Togher in Dunleer, Co Louth was fatally wounded following a shooting in the car park of The Huntsman pub in Gormanston, Co Meath, on Wednesday at lunchtime.
