Bus stop attack man 'serious' in hospital

A MAN in his 30s was hospitalised yesterday after being savagely attacked by four men at a city bus stop.

The victim was waiting for a bus on Ushers Quay when it appears the gang of four set on him and violently beat him.

Gardai at Kevin Street are investigating if the attack was carried out to rob the man of his phone.

The victim suffered facial injuries and the scene was so bloodstained afterwards that a street cleaning vehicle had to hose the street and pavement at the bus stop afterwards.

CCTV footage from local businesses is being studied by gardai to see if they captured images of the gang arriving at or leaving the scene.

The victim was taken to James's Hospital where his injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.
