Bullets found up chimney in €90,000 drugs raid

GARDAI carrying out a drugs raid on a west Tallaght house found ammunition stashed in a chimney breast.

A haul of 19 9mm bullets and four shotgun cartridges was discovered by officers from Tallaght station when they checked the chimney during a search of the house at Ardmore Court.

Armed with a warrant issued by a district court judge, the officers raided the property over suspicions a local crime gang was using it to store illegal substances.

ARRESTED

They seized 1kg of heroin, 15 €100 deals of cocaine and two larger quantities of cocaine. The haul has a total estimated street value of around €90,000.

Gardai arrested a man and a woman who were inside the house at the time and brought them to the local station on Tuesday night.

The suspects, both of whom are in their early 30s, were released yesterday. Neither has been linked to crime in the area in the past.

A file is due to be sent to the DPP in the near future.
