Get the brollies and the rain gear out, autumn is well and truly here as temperatures drop, cool breezes pick up and there's even a few hail showers in places.
The glorious days of September are behind us and a blustery spell is promised for the weekend and the coming week.
While there are a few bright sunny spells today, a fresh westerly wind will keep the mercury down to between 12-14C and some of the scattered showers will turn to hail.
Tonight temperatures will fall to 4C with more rain, particularly in west Ulster, Connacht and west Munster.
Tomorrow brings more of the same windy conditions with a few sunny spells and scattered showers in the southwest, west and northwest.
Once again, the temperatures will not move above 15C with fresh strong southerly winds, and later tomorrow heavy rain will spread across the country bringing with it strong to gale force winds.
There is not much change in sight, with weather forecasters saying the very unsettled weather will continue through next week.
