Bright new era on track as Irish Rail sponsors NDSL

IT'S the dawning of a new era in Dublin schoolboy and schoolgirl soccer.

Irish Rail have signed up to be the new sponsors for the North Dublin Schoolboy and Girls League -- the second biggest league in Europe.

The new deal by the rail company will further secure grassroots soccer in the capital.

It's a perfect fit between Irish Rail and the football league as many of the clubs affiliated to the NDSL are served on the DART and commuter lines.

The deal was penned at a ceremony at the Aviva stadium Thursday. Also present were representatives of the Herald, the official media partner of the league and where fixtures are exclusively published every Monday in our Striker magazine.

Irish Rail were sponsors of the victorious 2011 NDSL Kennedy Cup team.

"This is a huge bonus for the league, we also run a very highly successful academy and this injection will be a huge help in fostering the game for our future generation of young players," said NDSL secretary Tony Gains.
