FORMER Westlife star Brian McFadden will be flying without wings when he makes his debut musical appearance in alien prog rock musical War of the Worlds.
The singer (33) will join Jason Donovan in Jeff Wayne's musical stage show, which will tour the UK next year.
The extravagant production features lots of power ballads, dry ice and over-the-top costume changes – which all sounds remarkably similar to a Westlife concert.
Brian announced the news of his debut musical appearance this week. He tweeted: "I'm appearing in Jeff Wayne's The War of The Worlds 2014 Arena Tour!!
"Tickets for the 2014 Arena tour go on sale Friday November 22! It's going to be an amazing show! Brian x."
The production also features a 100ft cinema screen and an "alien fighting machine that weighs three tons and fires real flames at the audience".
War of the Worlds has been on the road since 2006 and has boasted an array of glittering performances by A-listers.
Liam Neeson played the part of George Herbert, Jason Donovan is Parson Nathaniel, and Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson have had smaller roles.
The production was inspired by HG Wells' 1898 novel War of the Worlds which sees hordes of aliens invade earth.
The story caught the imagination of Orson Welles who based his legendary 1938 radio broadcast on it.
Brian has yet to announce exactly who he will play but he and wife Vogue are heading to South Africa for The Gary Player International before the sci-fi rehearsals kick off. Vogue (27) told the Herald: "I'm doing some DJing there. And obviously Brian loves his golf. It should be great.
"Then we're going to Australia because Brian is doing I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here with Laura Whitmore."
While Brian may be busy watching ex-bandmate Kian Egan chomp creepy crawlies, Vogue intends to spend her time a little more wisely.
She said:"I'm just going to spend the whole time buying loads of really nice clothes. I've been saving so I can splash out when I'm there."
