Boy for trial over pepper-spraying

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy is facing trial accused of a pepper-spray attack on a shop security guard in Temple Bar. He has pleaded not guilty at Dublin Children's Court to assault causing harm and using a can of incapacitant spray as a weapon.

The incident is alleged to have happened in Fleet Street last February 25. Gda Niall McLoughlin told Judge John O'Connor the teen "approached the guard in Tesco, sprayed him and made off".

Judge O'Connor ordered that the teenager's trial would take place in July.
