A TEENAGER who threw a sawn-off shotgun and a cartridge over a wall into a garden when he saw a garda is to be sentenced later at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
The 17-year-old claimed he was being manipulated by other people as he was told to take the gun and throw it into a nearby canal.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to possession of a sawn-off shotgun in Clondalkin on April 18, 2009.
Judge Frank O'Donnell remanded the teenager on continuing bail for sentencing in November.
Man on Katrina attack charges
A US man has been charged with firing a shotgun at three black men in New Orleans who were wounded in what prosecutors said was a racially motivated attack in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.
Roland Bourgeois Jr, a 47-year-old white man, was charged with shooting at the men on the south side of the Mississippi River while they tried to leave the centre of the city after the August 2005 hurricane.
He allegedly bragged that he "got" one after the shooting, then retrieved a bloody baseball cap belonging to one of the victims.
Bourgeois faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
BB's Caoimhe dodges axe
One of the 12 remaining Big Brother housemates will be evicted tonight.
Caoimhe was originally picked to face eviction, along with 25-year-old dancer Ife and 29-year-old Katie Price lookalike Corin, but she won the Save and Replace task and chose Mario to take her place.
It is the second time lucky for Caoimhe (22) who managed to save herself from eviction last week after winning a task as she put Nathan Marlowe up for the chop instead. He was then evicted.
