Former Olympic boxing silver medallist Kenneth Egan has ruled himself out of contention for the upcoming general election.
The former light-heavyweight was elected as a Fine Gael councillor for the Clondalkin area of South Dublin County Council in 2014.
"I never had any intentions of running in the general election. It's not something that I am or ever was interested in," he said.
"I won't be running in any election in the near future. The only election I'll consider is the local elections, but I'm not even thinking about that at the moment."
