Bowe's Body Check in line for Celtic media award

RUGBY star Tommy Bowe and funny man Andy Quirke are in the running for broadcast awards for people from the Celtic nations.

The sporting hunk and the comedy actor, best known for his RTE2 show Damo & Ivor, have made the shortlist for the Bronze Torc Awards for Excellence, which will be presented at this year's Celtic Media Festival.

The aim of the festival is to celebrate the unique languages and cultures of the Celtic nations on screen and in broadcasting.


The festival is set to attract some of the biggest names in the broadcasting and film world to picturesque St Ives, Cornwall on the weekend of April 2.

Monaghan man Bowe got the nod in the sporting category, for his popular RTE documentary Body Check.

Quirke meanwhile, made the entertainment shortlist for his RTE2 show Damo & Ivor, a comedy about the lives of identical twin brothers separated after birth.

Belfast made crime drama The Fall, a co-production between RTE and BBC, made the shortlist for drama series.
