Border fence to halt immigrants

Hungary's prime minister has said the fence his country wants to build on the Serbian border to stem the flow of illegal migrants was a "forced measure" and not aimed at its neighbour.

PM Viktor Orban said he believed the issue of large-scale migration toward Europe would be an enduring problem.

Hungary has said that police have detained more than 67,000 immigrants this year, nearly all arriving from Serbia, including 1,000 people a day over the past week.
