Boom study

ECONOMIC think tank TASC has identified a 'golden circle' of Irish people at the apex of business during the 2005-2007 boom, awarding themselves huge salary increases and perks.

Many of the people studied ended up running their companies in to the ground.

In Mapping the Golden Circle, TASC has revealed the extent of the network across 40 of Ireland's top private companies and state-owned bodies such as Bord Gais, the Central Bank, AIB, Smurfit, Anglo Irish Bank, Ryanair and Aer Lingus. Over the period, a network of 39 people held positions in 33 of the 40 organisations.
