THE saga over the disaster-prone Spider-Man musical is going from stage to page.
Glen Berger, co-writer of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark -- which features music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge -- is working on a book, Song Of Spider-Man: The Inside Story Of The Most Controversial Musical In Broadway History.
The big-budget production became notorious for a series of stunt accidents during previews. The show was eventually revamped and the original director, Julie Taymor, sacked. Ms Taymor later sued the producers, who counter-sued. A tentative settlement was reached over the summer.
Lighter signals save sailors
A US Navy warship has rescued five Filipino fishermen after helicopter pilots spotted them flashing a lighter, standing on the roof of their sinking boat.
A Navy helicopter discovered the fishermen in international waters close to midnight. The guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell, which was closest to the scene, launched two boats to rescue them.
Five killed in rebel clashes
COLOMBIAN authorities say at least four soldiers and a presumed rebel have been killed in the latest clashes between government troops and leftist rebels.
The deaths, in three incidents on Monday, brought to nine the number of soldiers killed since peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, began in Norway last week. The nearly five-decade-old conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
