Bog ruling annulled

THE Information Commissioner, Emily O'Reilly, left, has annulled a decision by Bord na Mona to refuse information to Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE).

Ms O'Reilly ruled that Bord na Mona is a public authority and so must respond to request for environmental information under EU law. In April, 2012 FIE sought from Bord na Mona a list of their licensed bogs, their unlicensed bogs, and any information they held on bogs owned or worked by non Bord na Mona companies.
