A BLAZE at an ESB generating station caused massive damage after the fire got into ducting carrying high-voltage cables.

The flames are believed to have started in a switch room at the 38KV generating station on the Pigeonhouse Road in Dublin at 2.50am this morning.

Emergency fire crews had to wait until the power was switched off before they could fight the blaze. Nobody was injured in the fire.
