Firefighters were called to Pierce Brosnan's Malibu home after a fire broke out on Wednesday night.

Reports suggest that the fire started in the garage but investigators have not yet determined the cause.

It is understood that the 50 fire fighters were called to the former James Bond star's home at 9.48pm local time on Wednesday and had the blaze under control within 35 minutes.

Pierce lives at the Malibu mansion with his wife Keely and their sons Dylan and Paris and luckily no one was hurt in the blaze.

Brosnan's neighbour, NBC photo-journalist Kenny Holmes, revealed details of the fire on his Twitter account.

Along with photos of the 61-year-old actor outside his home, Kenny tweeted: "Heavy smoke and fire last night from the garage of Pierce Brosnan's Malibu home. No injuries. Damage to garage/bedroom."

Brosnan is also neighbours with fellow actors including Danny DeVito and Dustin Hoffman.

Brosnan recently starred in a Bond-style spoof Superbowl ad for the new Kia Sorento which saw him go back to his 007 roots.
