Bid to thwart arrest of killer

A MAN has pleaded guilty to attempting to impede the arrest of a killer who was later convicted of manslaughter.

Jason Beatty, of Merchant Road, East Wall, Dublin, had been charged with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of Conor Duffy in December 2008.

Last year, a jury found Duffy guilty of the manslaughter of mechanic Aidan O'Kane, who was shot dead in a laneway in East Wall on December 7, 2008.

At the Central Criminal Court yesterday, Beatty (21) also admitted to the possession of drugs for resale or supply in December 2008.

He will be sentenced on May 14.
