'Berserk' inmate injures four officers in prison
Four prison officers have been hospitalised, one with a suspected broken nose, after a vicious attack by an inmate at Cloverhill Prison.
The incident happened at 3.30pm yesterday when the inmate, a foreign national, was being escorted through the reception area.
He became violent, and the four officers were trying to restrain him when they sustained their injuries.
"The prisoner went berserk and lashed out. It was a very violent and unexpected outburst," a source told the Herald.

"Two of the prison officers have facial injuries and one is believed to have a broken nose as a result of the attack. The other two have back injuries and one has a wrist injury."
The Irish Prison Service confirmed the incident.
"A number of prison officers sustained injuries and were treated in an emergency department," said a spokesman.
"The inmate will be dealt with under standard prison procedures."
Sanctions may include isolation and restriction of privileges and visits.
