Banking Inquiry facing new probe

a BARRISTER has been appointed to investigate allegations of wrongdoing among the Banking Inquiry's investigation team.

A whistleblower raised serious concerns about the inquiry's work under the Protected Disclosure Act which will now be investigated.

The whistleblower also claimed the Oireachtas tried to "illegally" transfer them. The Oireachtas denies this.

Senior counsel Senan Allen had been appointed to investigate the claims. It is hoped the investigation will be complete by the end August.
