Back-to-school stress

THE MAJORITY of Irish families have admitted to serious financial strain in the run-up to the start of the new school year.

Some 87pc of parents said that they were struggling with back to school expenses and a further 48pc said they had not taken a holiday this year due to their financial situation.

A recent survey carried out by Aviva revealed that it costs between €200 and €300 per child to fund books, uniforms and other necessities.

The insurance company has announced details of a reduced cost on Level 2 Hospital at this time of year in order to reduce the burden on parents.
