Audi pumps in €80m

Luxury car manufacturer Audi is investing €80m to enhance its retail network in Ireland.

The German firm aims to become the number one prestige brand in the country by 2015.

In 2009, Audi increased its share of the Irish market from 3.35pc to 4.2pc -- despite the slump in luxury car sales. It has a 4.3pc share of the market in Europe.

Audi Ireland director Fintan Knight said the group predicts strong growth.

"Audi regained full ownership in Ireland in 2008 with a five-year plan to invest in the brand and we've been resolutely sticking with our plan."
