Arson feared as bin firm is hit by second blaze

BIN company Panda has been the victim of a suspected arson attack, the second fire to hit the company in just over a week.

Valuable equipment, including recently bought collection vehicles, was gutted in the latest blaze.

The incident happened at the Panda depot in Ballymount, South Co Dublin, at about 11.30pm on Thursday.

Fire officers from Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and gardai were also in attendance.

A number of waste collection trucks were damaged in the blaze, a garda spokesman told the Herald. It had yet to be established how the inferno took hold.

Thousands of customers in Dun Laoghaire had their collections delayed until today as a result.

On June 13, firefighters battled a massive blaze at a Panda waste recycling facility in Beauparc Business Park on the outskirts of Slane, Co Meath.
